Jolly Japes - 18

Gosh! A couple of my friends were able to retain their dignity when told that there were not enough volunteers for the "Calendar Girls". This, after all that publicity in the South Somerset Spectator, too. The Secretary, whose sporty idea this was in the first place, was very disappointed as can be imagined, but the vote stands: 'No outside help to make up the numbers'. I notice, though, she didn't put her own name forward, but then I don't blame her seeing the size she is. If the truth be known, I suspect she's thinking the same about me. There was, though, a very nice picture of her in the Spectator showing her helping to clear flood damage round the Old Manor House (17th cent.), acquired by the National Trust in 1927. BIG RON says the girls should stick to what they do best but declined to elaborate. I presume he was jolly well against the Calendar scheme from the outset as Chris was not among the eager volunteers. Chilly again today. Gosh!
