The Charitable Ian Armando

It has been pointed out to me that Ian Armando is thinking about giving away money.
In his Sunday Newspaper scribblings an observer noticed, I'm told, the following text:
"Since I'm doing no actual work, I'm happy to donate 7 per cent of my fee for this
column to charity".
Only 7 per cent? His Scottish mother must have had an influence in his prudent decision!
However, since you're in such a benevolent mood, Ian, don't forget me.

The Ranting Ian Armando

Ian Armando continues to excite himself over his scribblings in a Sunday Newspaper, I observe.
Whether he's trying to amuse us, or is giving himself pleasure, it is hard to judge: I suspect it
might be the latter. One day soon, I hope, he will be gently ushered to the door being told that
he has done enough harm and that it's time for him to go back to "Winnie the Pooh Land" where
he'll be amongst his own kind. "I have enormous affection for non-sensible people", he writes.
Quite so.

The Disappointed Ian Armando

It has been suggested that Ian be approached to direct the forthcoming new British
musical "Michael Foot - The Dancing Years". I'm afraid Mr. Armando is not the type
to be entrusted to direct such a serious subject. No spoofs here, please.

The Banker Ian Armando

They tell me that when Ian appeared on the Annie Robertson's "Weak Chain" programme,
he shouted out "bank" before there was any money in the kitty. A shame-faced Ian was
quoted as saying "I thought it was really funny at the time".

The Pursuing Ian Armando

It is reported that as a research student, Ian "seriously pursued comedy".
'Tis a shame that he never quite caught up with it.

The Tormenting Ian Armando

I was at a loss to know why Ian should write about "the fun of torture" in a Sunday paper.
All I got was severe mental pain from reading such puerile nonsense.

The Writings of Ian Armando

Ian, who is trying his best to lower the tone of a celebrated Sunday Newspaper
(some might say he already has!), is having another stab at writing a column.
Another cheque in the post for your latest effort, or do you have a bank account
now, Ian?

The unimpressive Ian Armando

Saw a photo of you the other day, Ian, giving your impression of Ken Dodd.
Don't you wish you had just a tenth of his wit, though?

The Ambitious Armando

Ian (Producer, Writer, Director, Presenter), maintains that his true ambition is to
"make a film which is just jokes." Now that is a joke!

Iannucci (1963 - )

Ian has claimed "I could only really have been an academic or a comedian."
Well Ian, we are all still waiting for something really funny from you.
-Michael Foot, Romford.

Dear Armando

Or may I call you Ian?
The difference between us, il me semble, is that you get paid for the drivel
you write, whereas I receive not a dime for mine. Michael Foot, Romford.

Tour of BBC Television Centre

Some days ago I went with a party on a tour of the most famous TV Headquarters in the world.
The tour lasted about 2 hours in which time we had the opportunity of glimpsing what went on
in various studios and newsrooms. Among the numerous statistics thrown at us we learned
that, for instance, 8000 people were employed in the vast complex that makes up the BBC Television
Centre at Shepherd's Bush. We were also told that the BBC News is the largest news gathering
service in the world. The people who read the news work in shifts of about 10 hours so have much
more to do than just being in front of camera
There are 8 BBC Television Channels which includes BBC News 24 (voted the News Channel of
the Year), and has been on air continuously for the past six years without a break. The most
remembered item of the week, though, was when viewers to the Newsnight programme caught
sight of a Ghanaian lady, Nan Amoatin, drifting by in the background, with a tea tray balanced
on her head. It improves her posture, but it also brings star status to a former nonentity.
